In Sanskrit, Ashtanga means “Eight Limb path.” Ashtanga yoga involves a physically demanding sequence of postures. It is one of the most rigorous types of yoga that follows a specific set of yoga postures that are synchronized with your breath. Since Ashtanga yoga is very physically challenging it is not for beginners. There is a total of six series of ashtanga yoga, and the difficulty level increases as we move from the primary series. Vinyasa yoga is believed to be originated from Ashtanga yoga.

  1. Vinyasa yoga

It is derived from the Sanskrit word which breaks into the word ha that means the sun (mind) and the word that that means moon (consciousness). Meaning of hatha yoga is to accomplish the balance between internal energy and energy derived from the sun and moon. This means preparing the body to balance between the energies of the Supreme universe that is the driving force of life in every particle present in the universe. Hatha yoga is the best form of yoga for beginners as it is slower paced yoga where there is much focus on proper alignment. Examples are virabhadrasana, trikonasana.

  1. Iyengar Yoga:

Iyengar yoga is a very meticulous style of yoga that was founded and developed by BKS Iyengar. It is a very purist form of yoga where there more emphasis was given to the on accurate alignment. Iyengar yoga is focused on precise alignment of your postures that made it best yoga style for your postural and structural problems. In this yoga, you have to give your utmost attention to every precise detail of every yoga pose that also relieves you from stress and anxiety. In a typical Iyengar yoga studio, there will be various yoga props are stocked up like yoga blocks, bolster, blanket, straps, etc. to help you find that proper alignment.   1. Bikram Yoga:

Bikram yoga is developed by Bikram Chaudhary, where you will move through the set sequence of 26 yoga poses in an artificially heated room. If you want to sweat in a yoga class, Bikram yoga is for you. Like Ashtanga yoga, in Bikram yoga, you will always follow the same set of yoga postures.
